How the final exam calculator works

Your final grade blends everything before the exam with the final itself. If the final is worth w% of your grade, the rest of your work counts for (100 − w)%.

How do I calculate what I need on my final exam?

Enter your current overall grade, the final grade you're aiming for, and the percentage of your grade the final is worth. The calculator uses the formula: required = (goal − current × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight, then shows the exact score you need.

What if the score I need is over 100%?

If the required score is above 100%, your target isn't reachable from the final exam alone. The calculator tells you the maximum grade you can still finish with (assuming a perfect final) so you know your realistic ceiling.

Where do I find my final exam weight?

Check your course syllabus. It usually lists the final as a percentage of your overall grade, such as 20% or 30%. Enter that number in the 'Final is worth' field.
